McKenzie Karelus

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

A proud third-generation Nevadan, McKenzie was born and raised in Reno before leaving the state to attend the University of Colorado Boulder for her undergraduate studies. After several years of traveling and living abroad, she returned home to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from UNLV. Her clinical career focused on serving women, children, and individuals with neurological conditions before transitioning into higher education. She taught as a part-time instructor at UNLV and later served as
Director of Clinical Education for the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Carrington College.

Passionate about strengthening her community, McKenzie dedicates her time to supporting Nevada’s women and children. She currently volunteers as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), is a member of the Cuddle Club at Silver State Pediatrics, and previously volunteered with the women of EMPOWERED at Roseman University.

Outside of work, McKenzie enjoys spending time with family, friends, and neighbors, participating in two book clubs, and playing the drums. She will almost always choose the mountains over the beach, unless it’s Lake Tahoe, where she can enjoy both.
